Fuelling my speeding fantasy….

The arrest of Clyde Workers’ Committee leaders David Kirkwood and William Gallacher during 1919 Battle of George Square on 31 January 1919.
“The former outdated pale-blue tones, front-pleated slacks, woollen jumpers and tie have been replaced by a design that suits the future needs of a “professional and progressive” force, Assistant Commissioner Neil Smith said.”
No. Do not want.
I have always said that I could never work for a police agency with ugly uniforms…
…I would never be able to work in this department. Not ever.
Hah. See, Flutterknife, it is ugly.
Wait, is this really what the South Australian Police will be wearing? It looks awful. I liked the ties D:
If “officers will no longer be required to wear a tie during winter” means the tie is gone altogether, AdelaideNow simply cannot write. I like the necktie, and hope it is still available.
Good riddance to the silly-looking women’s combination hat. And I’m glad they’ll be keeping the white-topped peaked hats, and sharing them with female officers.
The broad-brimmed hats should be a bit more pinched at the crown. It’s entirely a sensible design for a hat, but there is something inappropriately American about it. And I’m not sure about the label on the t-shirt, as practical as it is. Perhaps actual black would be better than this very dark blue? In general, it looks good. I like it.
I can’t comment on the difference in trouser pockets or durability, but I don’t think there was anything wrong with the blue uniform. But when my state police force decides to dress more like me, I can take a compliment.
I think it looks better, but will concede that they look less approachable than in the light blue. They seem to be allowed trimmed beards these days, so at least the men can look like men.
There’s not much else they can do to make police officers look more authoritative, though. Bigger beards? Bigger peaked caps in the Soviet fashion? Sabres? Jackboots? Horses for everyone, at all times?
I endorse the commissar hats and horses.

I’m sorry, what?
