Nature is brutal.
Solitary tiger vs. African elephant!
Boa constrictor vs. crocodile!

Hunting Big Game in the Wilds of Africa, Containing the Thrilling Adventures of the Famous Roosevelt Expedition. J. Martin Miller, 1909.
Stop Your Cruel Oppression of the Jews — Emil Flohri, 1904
In this print, which appeared after a 1903 pogrom in Kishinev, a “Russian Jew” carries on his back a large bundle labelled “Oppression;” hanging from the bundle are weights labelled “Autocracy,” “Robbery,” “Cruelty,” “Assassination,” “Deception,” and “Murder.” In the background, on the right, a Jewish community burns, while in the upper left corner, President Theodore Roosevelt asks the Emperor of Russia, Nicholas II, “Now that you have peace without, why not remove his burden and have peace within your borders?”

I’ll take all of them.
The Roosevelts are the best omg.
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.
Theodore Roosevelt magicking away the Russo-Japanese War
I enjoy the JAPAN cape, I enjoy the Tsar’s elf shoes and Russian Orthodox bling. Oh, and the symbolism of the drum and the olive branch.
When I am financially independent, I will furnish my house in nothing but ermine.
Theodore Roosevelt with envoys from Russia and Japan, 1905
It’s a tiny bit uplifting (and I’m neither an American or a Christian) and very very creepy. I’ve never before noticed a resemblance between Thomas Jefferson and Lucius Malfoy, but it cannot be unseen. Also, the Vietnam-era Soldier near him reminds me of Philip Glass.
The link identifies every face in there - some of which is very broadly informative and interesting and charming, and some being disturbing. And I don’t mean Jesus holding the U.S. Constitution, which is worrying in itself! I notice that the party on the right there includes Satan, a Smug Evolutionist Professor, Liberal News Reporter, Mr Hollywood, a pile of bills including Roe vs Wade, and I’ve already mentioned Satan.
I should probably feel a little angry about this painting which is oh-so-skilled and friendly and quite misguided, but it has Theodore Roosevelt and Benjamin Franklin in it, so I guess it is okay. Thomas Paine is cool too, and I like how he doesn’t seem to be damned to hell for his antireligion. But mainly Roosevelt.
